Acqua di S.M.Novella Elisir
This is a specialty of the pharmacy, traditionally called "Acqua Antisterica", literally "anti-hysteric water". It is a mixture of essential ingredients of select aromatic plants used over the centuries and known for their calming and digestive properties: costmary, mint and cinnamon. The original formula was developed in 1614 by Friar Angiolo Marchissi.
A hydro-alcoholic solution (70% v/v) to be used as follows: dilute 1 teaspoonfuls in half a glass of water and drink in small sips.
